The Department of Zoology organized an industrial visit to Agro Bio-Tech Research Centre Ltd. (ABTEC), Poovanthuruthu, Kottayam, for the first-year FYUGP major and minor students. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to advanced laboratory techniques and to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world applications in biotechnology.
During the visit, students interacted with scientists and technical staff and gained familiarity with various biochemical and microbiological laboratories, instruments, and ongoing research activities. The session was led by Dr. Hemand Aravind, Head of Research, who provided valuable insights into laboratory operations, research methodologies, and industrial applications of biological sciences.
This visit offered both scientific and entrepreneurial exposure, helping students understand the potential of biotechnological innovations and research-based industries. The interaction was highly engaging, and the students actively participated by asking questions and discussing research processes with the experts.
