A hand of care and learning….

The Department of Zoology organized an extension activity as part of its social outreach initiatives. Faculty members and students of the Value-Added Course (VAC) in Zoology visited Parasakthi Balikasadanam, Budhanoor — a home providing care and education for underprivileged girl students. The visit aimed to promote social responsibility and compassion among students by engaging them with the inmates of the institution.

During the visit, the team interacted with the residents, shared experiences, and spent quality time engaging in friendly conversations. The students and faculty also had lunch with the inmates, fostering a sense of togetherness and empathy. As a gesture of support, the department made a small monetary contribution to assist the home in its functioning.

This activity provided the students with a valuable opportunity to understand social realities beyond the classroom and to appreciate the importance of community service. The event reflected the department’s commitment to holistic education that combines academic learning with social responsibility.
