Be a dairy entrepreneur….

As part of the FYUGP Zoology curriculum, the Department of Zoology organized a farm visit to a dairy unit at Thiruvalla on 18 October 2025. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to animal husbandry, breed identification, and farm management practices, complementing their theoretical learning in applied Zoology.

During the visit, students observed and familiarized themselves with various indigenous and exotic breeds of cattle, understanding their distinguishing features, feeding practices, and breeding management. They interacted with the farm entrepreneur and staff, gaining first-hand insights into modern dairy farming techniques, milk production processes, and maintenance of animal health and hygiene.

The visit also introduced students to the economic and entrepreneurial aspects of dairy farming, highlighting its potential as a sustainable livelihood and business opportunity within the life sciences sector.

Overall, the visit was highly informative and strengthened the students’ understanding of applied zoological concepts related to animal science, agriculture, and rural entrepreneurship.
