Devaswom Board Pampa College, Parumala, is set to host its National Statistics Day Celebration 2025 on Tuesday, 5th August 2025. The event is being organized by the college’s Post Graduate Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
The celebration, held in the Smart Seminar Hall , will be inaugurated by Prof. S. Valsala Kumari, former Head of the Department of Statistics at DB Pampa College.
A key highlight of the event is a One Day Workshop on the “Basics of R Programming”. This workshop will be conducted by resource person Dr. Jerin Paul, an Assistant Professor from Vimala College (Autonomous), Thrissur.
This event is held to honor the “Father of Indian Statistics,” Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis. National Statistics Day is celebrated to acknowledge the contributions of statisticians and to popularize the field, highlighting its importance in policy-making and everyday life. While the official day is celebrated on June 29, the birth anniversary of PC Mahalanobis, the college is observing the day with this special event in August.
The celebration is organized under the guidance of Prof. (Dr). Suresh S, the Principal , with Mr. Unni MS (Head, Department of Mathematics) as Convenor and Dr. Rimsha H as Coordinator.
